BenchBoard Update: Faster Loads, Mobile Rollout, and Big Features on Deck
BenchBoard has been getting noticeably smoother over the past week — and that’s not by accident. As I mentioned in the previous update, we’ve been in the middle of a major provider migration, and those early cold‑start delays were the side‑effects of building a stronger long‑term foundation. The good news is that many of those slowdowns have already been addressed, and more improvements are rolling out daily.
This follow‑up is all about what’s next.
Performance: What’s Already Improved
Over the past several days, we’ve been tightening up the infrastructure that powers logins, lineup loading, and cross‑device sync. Coaches should already be seeing:
- Faster login times
- Quicker warm‑ups after periods of inactivity
- More consistent performance across browsers
And we’re not done. More optimizations are scheduled throughout the coming week as we complete the migration described in the original article. BenchBoard is getting faster every day.
Mobile Versions Are Coming

One of the most common requests has been: “When can I use this on my phone?”
The answer: very soon.
Mobile‑optimized versions of BenchBoard are in active development. These aren’t watered‑down ports — they’re purpose‑built experiences designed for coaches who are on the field, in the dugout, or reviewing lineups on the go.
Expect updates on this rollout shortly.
New Features on the Horizon
RSVP / Availability Tracking
Know who’s in, who’s out, and who’s questionable — without chasing texts.
Reports
Team summaries, player usage, inning breakdowns, and more. Data that helps coaches make smarter decisions.
Play Sheets
A clean, printable, coach‑friendly format for game plans, defensive rotations, and situational notes.
Scorekeeping (as its own app)
Scorekeeping deserves its own dedicated experience — fast, intuitive, and built for real‑time use.
That’s why it will launch as a separate companion app that integrates seamlessly with BenchBoard.
Final Word
BenchBoard is leveling up. The slowdowns are being resolved, mobile is on the way, and some of the most requested features in youth sports coaching are entering the pipeline. Thanks for sticking with this project as it grows — and as always, keep the feedback coming.
